The international partners of the REEPLAI project gathered in Óbidos, during the FOLIO International Literature Festival, to review progress, discuss the next steps, and present the project’s vision to the public.

A central event was the public forum held at the Vila Literária Tent, under the theme “The Restlessness of Children’s Imaginary in a Network of Reading Parks to read, play, interact!” on October 16th 2024. The session provided a platform to present the project’s origins and current activities, with a particular focus on the new Reading Parks being developed in Óbidos and Lviv, both set to open by June 2025.

The forum served as an opportunity for partners to share insights and experiences from their regions, strengthening their joint commitment to promoting cultural growth through literature. Each partner contributed unique perspectives, from the Italian focus on engaging diverse audiences to the Ukrainian approach to integrating the Reading Park with other local cultural activities.

Another key highlight was the visit to the Convento de São Miguel, the future site of the Portuguese Reading Park in Óbidos. This historic site is set to become a dynamic for reading, learning, and community engagement. The partners explored how this space can serve as a bridge between literature and the local community, creating opportunities for creative interaction and cultural enrichment.

The days in Óbidos stressed the value of international collaboration in reaching the ambitious goals of REEPLAI. By combining diverse perspectives and shared expertise, the partners are working to make literature more accessible and engaging for communities across Europe. As REEPLAI continues to grow, it aims not only to establish new spaces for reading, but also to inspire a lasting cultural dialogue that reaches beyond borders, fostering a deeper appreciation for literature and its role in society.
